A well-established Rehabilitation Center for persons with special needs was the brainchild of Rev. Fr. Joseph Augustine. In April 1979 a plot of land measuring 25 acres was purchased in the village Chherikheri. On account of the keen interest of Rt. Rev. Msgr. Hunold, the dream became a reality. The Republic Day of 1981 witnessed the blessing of the convent by Msgr. Hunold. The inauguration of the center took place on November 7, 1981 before the end of the International Year of the Disabled. As far as the training is concerned, both the deaf, dumb and the orthopedically disabled above 14 years of age are admitted. Training is imparted in lathe works, welding, tailoring, cane works, computer, electronics, art & craft, etc. More than 2000 students who studied here have settled down in life either with self-employment or jobs. Many of them are living a happy married life. A new structure has come up here. It is also slowly developing into a quasi parish with more and more people settling down due to the expansion of the city of Naya Raipur.
