All of us are aware by now that this October 2019 has been declared as Extraordinary Missionary Month by our Holy Father Pope Francis. This month commemorates the centenary of the Apostolic Letter, “Maximum Illud” of Pope Benedict XV. The vision of this letter is renewing the Church’s apostolic Missionary Commitment,through evangelization and bringing salvation of Jesus Christ to the whole world.
The Title: Baptized and Sent;
The Church on a Mission Our life is bestowed on us in baptism, which grants us the gift of faith in Christ. Baptism gives us rebirth in God’s own image and likeness, and makes us members of the body of Christ which is the Church. The universality of the salvation offered by God in Jesus Christ led Benedict XV to call for a new beginning of preaching the Gospel with interest. Celebrating this month will help us to rediscover the missionary dimension of our Faith in the Lord. This faith has been bestowed on us through Baptism. Our intimacy with God is not simply private but it is always in relation to the Church. Through communion with God we have received the gift of mission and this gift we have received freely so share it freely. (cf. Mt 10:8). The will of God is: All be saved.
Faith in Jesus Christ enables us to see all things with God’s own eyes and heart. It also invites us to witness Christ through our missionary conversion. This missionary move reminds us that I am a mission, you are a mission and every baptized person is a mission.As far as God’s love is concerned all are called to experience it and to share the same experience to the whole world through our mission. All of us are fruits of God’s love; this fruit must be shared with others. Moreover he fills us with his gifts and never takes back his gift of life. Being his children we are called to share his divine life.

In this apostolic letter Maximum Ill ud,the Pope noted that the Church’s Universal mission requires one’s own willingness for it. Today our church needs men and women who by virtue of their baptism respond generously to the call to leave behind everything and to be sent forth to the nations to bear witness to the Gospel.
