Kansa was a substation of Malkharoda Parish until 1980. On April 23, 1980 it was erecteded as a parish. Rev. Fr. Philip Rajamanickam, a zealous missionary of happy memory, was the first Parish Priest.

On June 21, 1983 Franciscan Clarist Congregation of Kothamangalam (FCC) Province opened a house here to assist in the parish activities. Other than the pastoral involvement in the parish, they had a medical dispensary which was closed down later on because of the new regulations of the government. The feast of Our Lady of Vailankanni is celebrated with great pomp and show. The sisters have now started an English Medium School on popular demand.
