Shantivanam is a Christian hermitage situated on the bank of the river Kharoon on the outskirts of Raipur city. This hermitage is the fulfillment of the vision of Rev. Fr. Thomas Elipulikatt (Swami Ishannand) to live a simple life in harmony with the nature and to seek God through deep contemplative prayers and meditation. The hermitage is situated in ideal sylvan surroundings. It has a serene atmosphere of its own, which is a great aid to one who seeks the Lord in prayer and meditation. Due to certain administrative reasons Swami Ishanand left the Ashram and now this center is entrusted to the Order of the Friars Minor (OFM).

Since there are a number families living around the Ashram it has been declared a quasi Parish and a Franciscan priest is appointed the priest-in-charge. SMMI Sisters have their formation house here.
