Dewarghata was first visited by Rev. Fr. Joseph Wengert who  acquired a piece of land which is still known as “Swamitikra”. But only after  50 years, Fr. Francis T. from Malkharoda began to visit the area regularly under the guidance of Rev. Fr. Julian Fernandez. At the request of the people, Msgr. W. Hunold, SAC appointed Rev. Fr. Francis T. on June 15, 1981 as the first priest-in-charge. Land for the church and presbytery was acquired later. Subsequently part of the land along with the house was given to the Franciscan Clarist Sisters who help out in the parish activities and also give service in the medical field. A small church and presbytery was constructed. Proclamation of the Word of God was done in and around the villages. Social service activities were taken up for the benefit of the villagers. On the demand of the people a Hindi medium school is established and is functioning well.
