On September 25, 1968, Msgr. John Weidner, SAC erected the parish of Pithora. Until 1968, the area under this parish was looked after from Basna. Rev. Fr. Mathew Mulavana was appointed the first parish priest.
In 1970 Rev. Fr. Mathew Mulavana started to stay at the present site in a temporary building and the present presbytery was completed by the end of 1971. Rev. Fr. Godwin Cordeiro succeeded him and looked after the parish for about one year. Rev. Fr. Mathew Valiyathara was appointed parish priest on October 9, 1972. He undertook the building of the parish church and it was blessed on January 26, 1974. Medical Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi (OSF) are involved in the social, medical, educational and pastoral activities of the parish. The sisters have a Hindi Medium and English Medium school affiliated to CBSE. The hospital run by the sisters is helping a lot of people of the locality.
