Bhilai Steel Plant had its lime stone mines and employees in Nandini. Rev. Fr. Augustine Nadayam, the parish priest of Charoda, was looking after the spiritual welfare of the people at Nandini. As there were quite a number of Catholics working in Nandini mines, in September 1968 Rev. Fr. Joseph Arputham took charge of Nandini. He completed the church building on October 2, 1968.On March 19, 1969 the parish of Nandini was established.
The Congregation of the Sisters of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, (SABS) Sacred Heart Province, Kerala, sent the first team of 4 Sisters. On August 14, 1969 the Sisters came to Nandini to take over Gandhi Memorial School and medical work. They have hostels for girls and small boys. Archdiocese also began a Hostel for bigger boys. As most of the mines are closed down and people have moved away the number of faithful has reduced with just a few families remaining.
